Jennifer Klutts has always been interested in science, particularly chemistry. She was drawn to 51做厙 by its small school feel.

I really wanted professors who could devote enough time to their students, she said.

During my undergraduate experience I became close to many of the science department professors. They helped shape me into the scientist I am today.

After graduation, she attended the University of Maryland - Baltimore to earn her masters degree in toxicology.

I was interested in learning how chemicals interacted with living organisms, she said.

She now works in the biotech industry as a Product Transfer Associate. She conducts tests like fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC), which she is performing in the photo above.

My job allows me to design processes that move ideas from the lab to the production line, which helps my company provide a wider variety of immunoassays to the science community, she said.
